Want to be Part of Something Big?
Posted: 1/26/10
Job Description
Objective: Family-oriented, mixed animal practice seeking a confident new graduate or experienced practitioner interested in being a part of something big! We currently operate two mixed animal practices in Indiana and have plans to purchase a new facility (to replace one of our older buildings) and continue expanding. Our caseload is 80% small animal and 20% equine (lameness, reproduction and basic care). There is potential to grow the equine portion into a full-time position, so an associate interested in small animal only, mixed animal or equine only would be welcome! We are seeking an associate because the area offers a large potential for growth and we don’t have enough hands on-deck to currently optimize that potential. We do plan to continue growing and the right candidate will not only share a passion for progressive medicine and small town living (we are 90 minutes from Chicago and 45 minutes from Purdue for those who need big-city amenities), but will also be interested in having a hand in our expansion.
Training Required: DVM and ability to obtain IN License
Experience Desired: Confident new graduates and experienced practitioners welcome to apply
Salary & Benefits: $60,000 - 70,000; Health Insurance, Continuing Education, IRA, Licensing and Dues
Species Percentages
Equine - 20
Small Animals - 80
Environment
Facilities provided: Our practices include small and large animal facilities. We have haul-in facilities and do a limited amount of farm calls. We also offer AI services and ultrasound evaluation of mares both pre-breeding and to confirm pregnancy. There is an 18 stall mare barn with foaling stalls and a stallion barn. Our small animal services include surgery, dentistry, behavioral and dietary counseling and wellness/routine care.
Other personnel: Veterinarian, practice manager and four support staff
Practice Strengths: Our practice was established in 1995 as an ambulatory equine service practice. In July of 2000 we opened our small animal portion of the practice to meet our clients needs. Since that time we have continued to grow by adding additional services and practices. In the spring of 2004 we constructed and opened the Equine Reproduction Center to meet the reproductive needs of our equine clients. The Equine Reproduction Center has continued to grow and in the Fall of 2008 we established a general Equine Center. In November of 2007, we purchased a neighoring small animal clinic. The addition of this clinic was a natural fit due to the number of clients in the surrounding area.
Practice Area: Our facilities are within easy driving distance from one another and are located in west-central Indiana. Both communities offer all the best of small town living including a laid-back lifestyle, safe environment, great school systems and a loyal, friendly client base. We are only 45 minutes from Purdue and 90 minutes from Chicago, so big-city amenities are not far.

Opportunity in Phillips County, Montana
Posted: 2/25/10
Job Description
Objective: Our practice, located in north-central, MT, is looking for a veterinarian to begin taking over the responsibilities of one of our two current doctors. The practice has a unique set-up with another practice in town – most easily described as consolidation. Two veterinarians operate out of two different facilities – one set up more for equine and the other for cattle and small animals. Operating under two different roofs, yet as partners, allows each to focus on what they love most about medicine, yet share equipment, facilities (when necessary) and it allows some great purchasing power in terms of drugs and supplies. The owner, who has been practicing for nearly 40 years, is ready to slow down and mentor a new graduate to take over his responsibilities. As a current “two” doctor practice, a third associate would be working with the two other veterinarians for a considerable amount of time, until eventually he/she is comfortable with taking over the caseload. A desire to buy-in is not necessary, but is certainly welcome if you desire.
Training Required: DVM and ability to obtain a MT License
Experience Desired: New Graduates or Experienced Practitioners
Salary & Benefits: $60,000+, DOE
Species Percentages
Beef - 70
Equine - 10
Small Animals - 20
Environment
Facilities provided: The practice is a mixed animal practice, but is based primarily on cow-calf production. One of the two partners does a fair bit of equine as well. The ranches are virtually all family owned operations (a very important factor in veterinary economics), well equipped, running from 300 up to 1400 head of mother cows. The practice works on a herd health concept with very little, if any, 'fire engine' activity involved. Individual cases are brought to the clinic for proper, professional and comfortable care. The practices are equipped with: • In House Lab • Ultrasound • X-ray • Surgery Suites • Large animal working facilities including a Hydraulic Chute
Other personnel: Two veterinarians, technicians, receptionists and a book keeper
Practice Strengths: In the fall our veterinarians each pregnancy test from 12 to 15 thousand head of cows and heifers. Some 6,000 to 8,000 heifers are Bands vaccinated each fall and winter, and in the spring we BSE about 500 bulls. The practice offers complete and comprehensive professional care and service to their clients, consequently doing considerable consultation, and providing a complete and comprehensive inventory of products for preventative herd health care. Our clientele is firmly established, repeat clients, many with over thirty years history with the practice. Although we are a cow-calf based practice, we perform complete care for our companion animal friends including orthopedic surgery.
Practice Area: We are located in north-central Montana and surrounded by gently rolling short grass prairies – perfect for farming and ranching! The Missouri and Milk Rivers flow through from west to east and form rough broken land near the rivers. The Little Rocky Mountains offer a mountain experience and opportunities for fishing and hunting (deer, antelope, elk and upland game birds). Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs offers mineral bath pools including two water slides. Two excellent opportunities for golf recreation are also available. The town is home to slightly over 2000 citizens and the county supports 5,100. We also boast a low cost of living, a regional medical center, several elementary/middle schools and one of the highest ranked high schools in the state!
